Col passare degli anni Deaver ha inesorabilmente perso il suo smalto, e questo L'addestratore è di una qualità che si perdonerebbe a un esordiente, non a un autore celebrato e sperimentato come lui.
I personaggi sono poco credibili, spesso abbozzati e parossistici, la storia zoppica ed è piena di pretesti e di soluzioni di continuità.
Il finale poi, vorrebbe essere una sorpresa, e invece è solo l'ennesima toppa.


Over the years Deaver has surely lost its brilliancce, and this Edge is of a quality that one would forgive for a beginner, not to an author celebrated and experienced as he is.
The characters are not very credible, often sketchy and paroxysmal, the story limps and is full of excuses and solutions of continuity.
The end then, would be a surprise, and instead it is just another patch.
