Quello dei soldati macchina, o dei soldati zombie, è un incubo ricorrente nella letteratura fantascientifica, molti autori ne hanno scritto con fortune alterne. Stepford SoldierZ appartiene a pieno titolo a questo genere, anche se ha qualche tratto umoristico forse non voluto esplicitamente dall'autore (i dialoghi tra i due amici militari sono così fuori di testa da essere assolutamente esilaranti). Purtroppo però, forse a causa della sua brevità o del suo appartenere a una serie, la storia manca di profondità al punto che il personaggio più interessante risulta proprio essere uno dei subumani soldati zombie, che sembra nascondere dietro un'apparente ottusità, dolore e rabbia per la propria condizione. Come dicevo prima molti hanno scritto su questo argomento, uno tra tutti Valerio Evangelisti nella sua trilogia del Metallo, e lo ha fatto in maniera magistrale e difficilmente raggiungibile.

The one of the soldiers-machine, or zombie-soldiers, is a recurring nightmare in science fiction literature, many authors have written about it with mixed fortunes. Stepford SoldierZ fully belongs to this genre, although it has some humorous features, perhaps not explicitly wanted by the author (the dialogues between the two military friends are so freaked out to be absolutely hilarious). Unfortunately, perhaps because of its brevity or its belonging to a series, the story lacks of depth to the point that the most interesting character is one of the sub-human zombie-soldiers, that seems to hide behind an apparent dullness, the pain and anger for his condition. As I said before many have written on this subject, one of all Valerio Evangelisti, in his Metal-trilogy, and did it a so masterly manner that is difficult to reach.
