Norse Mythology by Neil GaimanMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
The discovery to have common readings with your favorite authors is always enjoyable. In this case this happened to me with Neil Gaiman, who too apparently loved Marvel's comics with Thor as the protagonist. Beautiful comics, well-drawn, with wonderful stories, which for me had the added value of being something exotic, since in my time 'the females' did not read certain things (and in fact every time the newspaper vendor asked me with a sappy look if they were for my brother, I replied, with the rough tone I perfected since childhood, that I was - and I am - a single child). After the childhood comics came the Poetic Edda and Snorri's Edda, and then ... then he is Neil Giman and I'm not, so he writes and I read.
For those who have long been passionate about Nordic mythology, Norse Mythology is not a book to read for the pleasure of revelation. Almost all the events in fact I knew, but the way Gaiman told them, the lightness of the dialogues, his making a complicated God like Odin, to whom the God of the Old Testament is a linear character, closer and comprehensible, make the reading fresh and enjoyable, somehow new.
Thanks Neil!
Grazie Neil!
