Un piccolo jet precipita in Colombia e l'autorità per le indagini sugli incidenti aerei americana manda un proprio investigatore a supporto della squadra locale, investigatore che, contro qualsiasi logica, è il padre di una delle presunte vittime. Basta questo per far capire che in questo incidente qualcosa non va, anche e soprattutto perché il corpo della figlia dell'investigatore non si trova, così come quello di un'altra ragazza, che le assomigliava molto e occupava il sedile vicino a lei. Presto l'investigatore, che è tutto muscoli, ma anche cervello (sono un giocatore di rugby, dice di se stesso per giustificare questo incredibile binomio), riesce a intuire la vera dinamica degli eventi, nonostante la sua controparte colombiana sia stata uccisa con un colpo di pistola e nonostante un minaccioso maggiore della polizia faccia di tutto per mettergli i bastoni tra le ruote.
Man mano che le pagine girano, i muscoli dell'investigatore e padre americano vengono messi sempre di più alla prova, fino allo scontro finale, nel cuore della foresta pluviale, in un crescendo pirotecnico e wagneriano.
Romanzo piuttosto divertente, nonostante l'intreccio sia un po' troppo trasparente e nonostante alcuni personaggi, come il padre della seconda ragazza scomparsa, siano privi di spessore e visti fin troppe volte.


A small jet crashes in Colombia and the American authority for the investigation of aviation accidents sends its own investigator in support of the local team, investigator who, against all logic, is the father of one of the alleged victims. This is enough to make people understand that this incident is something wrong, not least because the investigator's daughter body is not found, as well as that of another girl who looked a lot like her and occupied the seat next to her. Soon the investigator, who is heavily muscled, but has also a brain (I am a rugby player, says of himself to justify this incredible combination), is able to sense the true dynamics of events, despite his Colombian counterpart was killed by a gunshot and despite a threatening police major do everything to stick a wrench in the gears.
As the pages turn, the muscles of the American investigator and father are increasingly tested, up to the final battle, in the heart of the rain forest, in a pyrotechnic and Wagnerian crescendo.
Rather amusing novel, although the plot is a bit too transparent and despite some characters, like the father of the second disappeared girl, are free of thickness and seen too many times.
