Ho passato la maggior parte della mia vita da lettrice a leggere fantascienza, da quella divulgativa di Asimov a quella sociologica di Farmer. Ho apprezzato le visioni futuristiche della Atwood e goduto della parascientificità immaginifica di Henlein.
Questo per dire che il libro non ha nulla a che vedere con la fantascienza.
Ma non ha nulla a che vedere nemmeno con la sociologia, né con la politica.
Vorrebbe essere un modo per mettere la gente di fronte alle conseguenze di certe pratiche, ma non riesce nemmeno in questo perché l'autore conosce troppo poco di ciascuno degli argomenti che tocca per essere davvero efficace.
Non conosce nemmeno il luddismo, a cui si dovrebbe richiamare una delle protagoniste.
Il libro lascia molto a desiderare anche dal punto di vista della trama, e dell'approfondimento dei personaggi, che sono monodimensionali e stereotipati.
Mi spiace doverlo dire, ma è un autentico disastro.



I spent most of my life as a reader reading science fiction, from didactic Asimov to sociological Farmer. I enjoyed the futuristic visions of Atwood and and para-scientific imagination of Henlein.
This is to say that this book has nothing to do with science fiction.
But it has nothing to do with either sociology or politics.
It should be a way to put people to cope with the consequences of certain practices, but can do not even this, because the author knows too little of each the topics he touches to be truly effective.
Do not even know who the Luddites are, to whom one of the protagonists refers.
The book leaves much to be desired from the point of view of the plot, and deepening of the characters, which are one-dimensional and stereotypical.
I'm sorry to say, but it is a disaster.
