Da un po' di tempo il buon vecchio Joe vive più di allori che di penna. Ovviamente si tratta di allori meritatissimi, perché chi ha inventato il Drive in e il dinamico duo Hap & Leonard ha indubbiamente reso un enorme servizio all'umanità lettrice. Questa volta Lansdale si cimenta con un western, ambientato nel sud degli Stati uniti poco dopo l'abolizione della schiavitù. Il fatto che però l'abolizione della schiavitù non fosse stata accompagnata dall'abolizione del razzismo è il motore degli eventi alla base di questo libro, nel quale ne succedono davvero di tutti i colori.
La scrittura di Lansdale è sempre pirotecnica, anche se questa volta i personaggi non gli sono venuti bene come al solito (tanto per dire, il carattere migliore é Satan, un cavallo) e la trama assomiglia un po' troppo a Django unchained.
Mi sono comunque divertita molto, e questo ha alzato un po' il punteggio.

For some time to the good old Joe lives more of laurels that of pen. Obviously he deserved these laurels, because the man who invented the Drive and the dynamic duo Hap & Leonard has undoubtedly made a huge service to the reading humanity. This time Lansdale engages with a Western, set in the south of the United States shortly after the abolition of slavery. But the fact that the abolition of slavery had not been accompanied by the abolition of racism is the engine of the events at the basis of this book, in which happen all sorts of things.
The writing of Lansdale is pyrotechnics ad always, although this time the characters did not have come as well as usual (so to say, the best character is Satan, a horse) and the plot resembles too much to Django unchained.
I still enjoyed it a lot, and this has raised a bit the score.
