Dio tace. Che tu sia il Nero, credente rinato nella cui testa non c'è un solo pensiero che non profumi di divinità, che tu sia il Bianco, ateo raziocinante che ha perso qualsiasi interesse per una vita che suppone priva di scopo, non sarà certo Dio a darti le risposte che chiedi.
E alla fine di un dialogo che sonda tutti i moti dell'animo umano, il Nero implorerà Dio di dargli le parole, e il Bianco tornerà a perseguire il suo destino, quale che sia.
Un McCarthy magistrale.


God is silent. Whether you are Black, born-again believers in whose head there is any thought that does not scents of gods or you are the White, rational atheist who has lost all interest in a life that is supposedly devoid of purpose, it will not be God to give you the answers you ask.
And at the end of a dialogue that explores all the motions of the human soul, the Black implore God to give him the words, and White will return to pursue his destiny, whatever.
